Deaths of two young children in Bolton now being treated as murder
Police have ruled out any suspicious circumstances surrounding the mother's death, after discovering the three bodies on Monday
Detectives investigating the deaths of a mum and two children in Bolton say they're now treating the children's deaths as murders.
They have, however, ruled out any suspicious circumstances surrounding the mother's death.
Police were called to the property on Arthur Street in Little Lever shortly before 3.50pm on Monday afternoon - after reports of concern for the welfare of a woman.
Officers attended the address and sadly found the bodies of a woman in her 20s and her two young children.
Formal identification hasn't yet taken place, but they've been named locally as 27 year old Tiffany Stevens and her daughters 3 year old Casey and 1 year old Darcey.
The coroner has carried out post mortem examinations on all three and concluded both children's deaths are being treated as murder.
Officers aren't looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
An extremely upsetting case
Detective Chief Inspector Colin Larkin of GMP’s Major Incidents Team says, “Our thoughts remain with the family at this unimaginably difficult time.
“Specialist officers will continue to support them while they deal with the loss of their loved ones.
“This was an extremely upsetting case that has affected the family, friends, the local community and everyone at GMP who has been involved with it.
“I would like to thank my fellow officers for their professionalism and diligence over the past 48 hours and the local community for their cooperation and patience.”
