Cyclist cuts neck on wire placed across footpath
A cyclist has suffered a serious slash wound after a wire was deliberately put across a footpath in Stretford
Police are appealing for information after a man suffered cuts to his neck while cycling in Stretford. Shortly after 4.45pm on Sunday 10 July the victim was cycling along a footpath at the rear of Cheshire Close, Stretford Meadows. As he cycled down a hill he collided with a plastic coated wire that had been tied between two trees across the footpath leaving him with cuts to his neck.
Police have now issued images of the man’s injuries to urge members of the public to come forward. Detective Inspector Carl Gilbert, of GMP’s Trafford borough, said: “This was a premeditated act on a man who was simply out riding his bike. “It has left the victim with some nasty cuts to his neck and he’s lucky that the injuries were not more serious. “It happened on a popular walking route at a busy time of the day and we would like to appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw anything that can help us with our investigation to come forward." Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
