Crowds gather for proclamation of King Charles III in Manchester

The new King was officially proclaimed for the people of Greater Manchester at a ceremony in St Peter's Square today, Sunday 11th September, which saw hundreds of attendees.
Greater Manchester High Sheriff Lorraine Worsley-Carter read out the proclamation, following by the singing of the National Anthem.
Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Diana Hawkins, and the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Councillor Donna Ludford, also spoke at the event.
Lord Lieutenant, Diana Hawkins, said: People want to be together to have a chance to mourn their late Queen and to recognise their new King.
"People of all counties, not just Greater Manchester, want to be together at this time and I'm so pleased that so many were able to come."
Leader of the City of Manchester, Bev Craig, added: "It's a good opportunity for people from all backgrounds to come together in the city centre and experience a bit of history."
