An urgent warning has been issued over allegations dodgy surgeons could be carrying out cosmetic surgery in hotel rooms in Manchester.

Manchester City Council say procedures including Brazilian Butt Lifts are being offered, which would be extremely dangerous in a non-clinical setting due to the risk of infection.

Manchester’s Director of Public Health Dr Cordelle Ofori, said: “The Council takes health and safety extremely seriously and has been concerned by reports about potentially unsafe cosmetic procedures taking place.

“These procedures must take place in a clinical setting to mitigate any potential risk of infection and to prioritise the patient’s safety. Our officers have been working this week to gain assurances that any procedures taking place are safe and being conducted in the appropriate environment.

“If these assurances cannot be made, the Council will take steps to intervene.

“For any information or guidance on what to do if you have booked in for this kind of treatment please contact the Council’s Environmental Health Team by calling 0161 234 5004.”
