City have already been linked with a string of new signings but boss Pep Guardiola says he has no plans to sell captain Vincent Kompany and striker Sergio Aguero.

Both players scored in the 5-nil win at Watford on the Premier League's final day and Pep insists that he is not going to offload the pair, despite media reports suggesting that they are both surpass to requirements at the Ethihad.

Guardiola: “They are players for Manchester City and they will be in Manchester City next season.”

City have finished the season on 78 points, gaining qualification to the Champions League next season by finishing in third place.

Also hoping to gain qualification is rivals United, who can qualify for the illustrious European competition by winning the Europa League on Wednesday in Stockholm. The Red Devils face Dutch giants Ajax in their final game of the season.

United will be hoping to end the season on a high after a disappointing sixth place finish in the Premier League, where they finished 9 points behind rivals City.

United concluded with a two-nil victory at home to Crystal Palace. Manager Jose Mourinho gave four players their full top-flight debuts, resting key players ahead of the all-important Europa League final.

Mourinho bamboozled the press on Sunday as they expected him to be pitch side, carrying out a lap of honour with his players after the game. Instead, ‘The Special One’ went straight to the pressroom as normal, to find only a few journalists there. When none of the press asked him a question within ten seconds, he got up and left.

United and City will be hoping to mount serious title challenges next season.
