City centre celebration
Manchester set for new year's eve firework display after businesses rally round to raise funds.
Thanks to local businesses, Manchester will once again host its New Year’s Eve firework display.
There had been concern that this year’s display wouldn’t get the go ahead due to council budget cuts. In 2011 the same problem led to the cancellation of the event.
However, businesses around the city have agreed to help fund the £25,000 required to host the display.
Albert Square is home to the event which council leaders are hoping will start off 2016 with a bang.
