There are calls for a crackdown on the drug Spice after videos emerged of Manchester’s homeless being turned into a zombie-like state after taking it. harity worker Julie Boyle has been speaking to Key 103:

The drug which costs as little as five pounds and is known to be highly addictive, was first introduced as a legal alternative to cannabis but a new strain has since developed which is known to be far more potent and in some cases, lethal.

Many of Manchester’s leading politicians have called for police and health authorities to work together in helping to clampdown on the drug.

Greater Manchester’s interim mayor Tony Llloyd “we’ve got to be concerned on the impact on people’s health and their wellbeing.”
