Call for Volunteers to help make Manchester's big day magic
Manchester Day will take place on Sunday, 18 June
Make sure you have a magical Manchester Day experience by being part of the show and take advantage of the volunteer opportunities on offer.
Manchester Day is one of the biggest outdoor events in the UK, with tens of thousands of people filling the streets for the huge celebration, along with this year’s theme: Abracadabra!
There are hundreds of opportunities to be part of the event and Manchester Day is looking for enthusiastic people to play a key role in helping to bring the streets of alive in THE celebration of the city’s history, community, diversity and solidarity.
Opportunities include creative roles both in the run up to Manchester Day and on the day of the event, helping top artists create the incredible costumes, artworks, structures and props that will transform the city centre in June.
Before the day, you can volunteer as much or as little as you like, from a few hours to a few weeks and the experience will give you the opportunity to work with established carnival artists with hands-on involvement in creating the Manchester Day spectacle.
On the day, volunteers can also help communicating with the Manchester Day crowds, handing out programmes and answering any queries people have about the event.
There are also creative roles on the day playing a vital role in preparing the parade, helping groups with floats and accessories, and directing participants to their positions. You can also be part of the parade itself or help bring the city centre squares alive supporting the performances and installations.

“We have volunteers who have been part of the event since the very beginning eight years ago. But each year our ambition for the event gets bigger and bigger, and it’s fantastic to see new faces get involved.
“This is an opportunity to be part of something amazing – an experience that will stay with you for the rest of your life.”
Liz Pugh, Co-founder and Creative Producer of Walk the Plank, said: “Volunteers play such an important part making Manchester Day the fantastic day out that it has now become. Many of our volunteers come back year after year because they have such a great time, so if you love Manchester and love volunteering this is the perfect opportunity to be part of the Manchester Day feel-good atmosphere.”
