An 11-year-old boy was threatened with a knife by a masked gang of intruders who broke into a house in Prestwich. Three armed burglars threatened the boy, two women aged 33 and 40 and a man of 19, herding them into a back bedroom as they ransacked the property on Heywood Road.

They eventually drove off in a Seat Leon belonging to one of the women after finding her keys in the raid.

Detective Inspector Charlotte Cadden said: This was a terrifying ordeal for all of the victims, but particularly the little boy, who has been left utterly traumatised by the incident. We have put extra patrols in place in an attempt to reassurance the community, and we are obviously looking for the public's help to trace the stolen vehicle.'' The car has the registration MT15 XVV. The burglars are described as an Asian man, 5ft 7 to 9in tall with a stocky build and wearing a navy blue tracksuit, plus two white men, one 6ft tall in a black North Face jacket and a second who was 5ft 11in. All three had Salford accents.
