Boy, 13, left with 'potentially life-changing injuries' after being knocked off bike in Trafford

A man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving offences

A 13-year-old boy has been left with potentially life-changing injuries after being knocked off his bike in Trafford.

Police were called to reports of a road traffic accident on Manchester Road in Carrington at around 9pm on Tuesday 25 April.

The incident involved a number of vehicles and a cyclist.

Paramedics from North West Ambulance Service transported the teenager to hospital.

Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A woman and man, the drivers of two of the vehicles, were arrested on scene on suspicion of drink and drug-related driving offences. They remain in custody for questioning.

Inspector Darren Hancock, Head of GMP’s SCIU said: “This was an horrific accident that has left a 13-year-old boy with potentially life-changing injuries. We send out thoughts to him and his family, and our specialist officers continue to support them.

“We have arrested two people in relation to this accident, but our investigations are still ongoing. We would encourage anyone who was in the area of Manchester Road in Carrington at approximately 9pm last night and who may have captured the vehicles on dashcam footage, to come forwards.

“In addition, if there is anyone with doorbell footage or CCTV that shows the vehicles or the accident, we would urge them to contact 101, quoting reference number 003771-25042023.
