Bomb disposal teams called to suspicious package in Chorlton

Police believe it's related to the attempted robbery of a cash machine

Bomb disposal teams were called out to reports of a suspicious package in Chorlton this morning (Thursday 2nd January).

Wilbraham Road was cordoned off just at around 9:20am when officers were called to reports of a suspicious package which was located by a member of the public.

The nearby Morrisons supermarket was evacuated.

Police say they believe the suspicious package relates to an attempted robbery of a cash machine.

The incident is believed to be isolated with no threat to the wider community and officers remain in the area.
