Police launch appeal for witnesses after serious multivehicle collision

Police in Greater Manchester are appealing for witnesses following a serious multivehicle collision in north Manchester.

Officers were called to Blackley New Road shortly after the crash took place at around 3:03pm on Friday afternoon (October 18th).

When responders arrived on the road, they found that a car had crashed into a second vehicle, as well as a bus.

Following lines of enquiry, it was revealed that the driver of the car that had crashed suffered a medical episode whilst driving, which resulted in the crashes taking place.

The driver sustained serious injuries following the incident, which police described as being "potentially life-threatening".

The woman was taken to hospital for her injuries where she remains in a serious condition.

Officers are now investigating the incident and have asked that anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the crash come forward.

Those who may have any information that could help officers in their enquiries is being urged to get in touch by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number 1999 from October 18th.
