Arrest made following death of 47-year-old man in Wythenshawe

A man, aged 57, has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man in Wythenshawe on Wednesday 4 December. He remains in police custody for questioning.
At around 8pm Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a stabbing on Whitburn Road, Manchester.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, a 47-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man has now been confirmed as James Murray from Wythenshawe.
In a statement, James’ family said: “The family of James Murray appreciate the expressions of sympathy and support since we have discovered the sad news of his untimely death.
“We, at this time, ask for privacy as we deal with our grief and loss.
“We would like to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information that can assist the investigation, to contact Greater Manchester Police”.
Detective Chief Inspector Lee said: “Our condolences go out to James’ loved ones, and we ask that you respect their request for privacy as they grieve their loss.
“Last night, we arrested a 57-year-old man on suspicion of murder.
“We understand that some residents may have concerns in relation to this incident, and I would like to take this opportunity to reassure the community that we believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat.
"We are still appealing for any information or CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage, that my assist in our investigation to be sent to our team through the Major Incident Public Portal which we have set up for submissions.”
