Oldham hostage situation ends

A man's been arrested after a woman was held hostage at a house in Oldham for more than 25 hours.

Armed police were sent to the house on Pemberton Way in Shaw at about 3:15 on Tuesday (25th July 2017) morning.

Special officers spent more than a day negotiating with a man before entering the property at 4:55 (Wednesday 26th).

They say the 27-year-old old woman was released without injury and a 30-year-old man was arrested.

He's in custody being questioned on suspicion of making threats to kill and false imprisonment.
