Police appeal for information following serious Altrincham assault

Greater Manchester Police have appealed for information after a man was seriously assaulted in Altrincham.

Officers received reports of an incident taking place in the town in Trafford in the early hours of Saturday morning (June 8th).

When responders arrived at the scene on the Causeway in the town at around 2:10 a.m., they found a 52-year-old man that appeared to have been pushed down a flight of stairs.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment to his wounds; he has been described as being in a serious condition, with life-changing injuries.

Police have said that enquiries into the incident are ongoing and that no arrests have yet been made in connection with the attack.

Officers are now appealing to the public to come forward if they witnessed the attack or have any relevant information.

Speaking on the case, Detective Inspector Andrew Langlands from the force said: "This was a cowardly attack which left a man with serious injuries.

"Our investigation is moving at pace, and we are undertaking exhaustive enquiries to identify and arrest the person - or persons – responsible," he added.

"We are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or who has information to share (including relevant CCTV, mobile or dashcam footage) to make a report to police as soon as possible."
