60-year-old arrested following homophobic graffiti in Manchester's Gay Village

A 60-year-old man's been arrested after homophobic and transphobic graffiti was daubed on a mural in Manchester's Gay Village.
The offensive slurs have now been removed from the artwork of Alan Turing and Drag Race UK star Divina De Campo, which were defaced last month.
The 60-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of transphobically and homophobically aggravated damage. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
Chief Inspector Wignall, of GMP's City of Manchester division, said: "We take crimes of this nature very seriously. People should be able to go about their daily lives free from hate and abuse and this type of behaviour will absolutely not be tolerated in our communities.
"This believed to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the community."
