17-year-old arrested after Longsight stabbing

The teenager's being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder

A 17-year-old boy's been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, as officers continue to investigate a stabbing on Slade Lane in Longsight, on Friday (17 May).

The victim, who is in his 20s, remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition after receiving a stab wound to his chest.

A man in his 50s who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder has been released on police bail.

Greater Manchester Police are still appealing to the public for information, and would like to speak to anyone who was in the area that evening, or who perhaps lives on Slade Lane or the surrounding area and has CCTV, dash cam, or doorbell footage.

Detective Inspector John Robb from the City of Manchester division said: “We have continued with our enquiries over the weekend which has led us to arresting another individual in relation to this incident.

“Additional officers will remain in the area, and I would encourage members of the public to speak to them if you have any concerns or information that could assist us with our investigation."
