12 year old girl hit by a car in Wigan

It happened on Friday evening as she was crossing Wallgate.

A 12-year-old girl is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a car in Wigan town centre.

It happened at around 6.30pm on Friday (24th March). Police were called to reports of a collision on Wallgate - close to the junction with Miry Lane

On arrival, officers established a 12-year-old girl had been involved in a collision with a grey Nissan Note as she was crossing the road.

The girl was taken to hospital with a series injuries head and internal injuries.

Police have now launched an investigation to establish what happened and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Police Constable Paul Shore of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “My thoughts are with the girl’s family at this time.

“We are looking into how this collision happened and I would urge any witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage that could help with our investigation, to please get in touch.”
