A school girl has been hospitalised with life changing injuries after being knocked off her scooter in Oldham.

The 10-year-old was riding home from Princess Park just after 6pm yesterday evening (9th August) when she was involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Astra on Princess Road.

The road was closed for three hours to allow the air ambulance to land and for emergency services to work at the scene.

The girl suffered multiple injuries and was taken to hospital for surgery, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

The driver of the car was not injured and remained at the scene to speak with officers.

No arrests have been made.

Police Constable Paul Hailwood of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are doing all we can to support the girl’s family at this very traumatic time and our thoughts remain with her as she receives treatment in hospital.

“Our investigation to establish the exact causes in the lead up to this collision remains ongoing.
