On Saturday 9th September Manchester Arena reopened its doors for the first time since the attack at the Ariana Grande concert in May, 22 people lost their lives that night and many more were injured. The We Are Manchester benefit concert was not only a way to raise money for the Manchester Memorial Fund, a charitable trust seeking to establish a permanent memorial for the victims, but also a way for concert goers to try and enjoy music at Manchester Arena again.
Musicians Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Pixie Lott, Blossoms, The Courteeners, Rick Astley, Bugzy Malone and Nadine Coyle took to the stage to perform their hit tracks. Comedian Peter Kay and poet Tony Walsh also took to the stage to deliver passionate speeches.

2017: Noel headlines We Are Manchester
Although absent from One Love Manchester, Noel Gallagher headlined the 'We Are Manchester' charity show at the Manchester Arena. Noel became visibly overwhelmed during his performance of 'Don't Look Back In Anger' – which became an anthem in Manchester following the tragic event.

The One Love Manchester concert in June saw Ariana Grande bring together some of the most high profile musicians to raise money for victims but also to help those who had been in the crowd on that terrifying night in May find hope and enjoyment in music again. On Saturday 9th September the We Are Manchester concert was another part of that healing process.
We spoke to music fans who were attending the concert, including Megan who had been at the original Ariana Grande concert:
Other fans told us why they had chosen to attend the concert.
And why it was so important to be there.
When Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds took to the stage to sing ''Don't Look Back In Anger', the song that has become the anthem for all those affected by the tragedy back in May, it was truly an incredible moment.
We are Manchester and we will stick together to move forward but we will also remember those we lost that day who were from our own city and those across the UK.
