Two people die in house fire in Croydon

A man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene

Two people have died in a house fire on Windermere Road in Addiscombe in south London.

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters were called to the fire at a detached house.

The ground floor of the building was damaged by the fire.

Firefighters found one man and one woman inside the property who were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The Brigade was called just after 8pm on Wednesday night and the fire was under control by around 9pm.

Fire crews from Woodside, Croydon and Beckenham fire stations attended.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service.
