Michelin-star chef who worked under Gordon Ramsey 'critical' after Notting Hill Carnival attack
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, as police continue an appeal
A Michelin-star chef who once worked under stars Gordon Ramsey and Marcus Wareing is in a critical condition after he was attacked near Notting Hill Carnival.
Mussie Imentu, an Eritrean national who grew up in Sweden, was found unconscious with a head injury in Queensway at around 23:30BST on Monday (August 26).
The 41-year-old is in a critical condition in hospital and police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder.
Detectives investigating have taken the unusual step of naming him, as part of an appeal for information.
Mr. Imentu was on a trip to the UK from Dubai and was working at luxury restaurant The Arts Club, where he had designed a summer menu.
He left the restaurant at around 13:00BST on Monday afternoon, wearing a blue t-shirt and black jeans.
He later arrived at Dr. Power, a restaurant in Queensway, which was serving food and playing music to carnival-goers.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, leading the investigation from the Met's Homicide Command, said: “While the arrest of a suspect is a significant step in our investigation, we are still very keen to hear from anyone who can help piece together Mussie’s movements between when he left The Arts Club at 13:00hrs and when he arrived at Dr Power restaurant at 22:30hrs.
“If you visited the restaurant between 22:00hrs and 23:30hrs on Monday night or were in the area and saw something, regardless of the reason you were there, please do get in touch.
"Our focus is on what happened to Mussie. Did you speak with him at the restaurant or do you have any images or videos between these times that could assist the investigation".
