Rail cleaners begin 24 hour strike against lack of pay increase
Hundreds of cleaners on trains have walked out

Hundreds of cleaners on rail services in the South and South East have downed tools in order to take industrial action over pay.
The cleaners, hired from outsourcing firm Churchill are disputing their rate of pay and are asking for an increase in wages and salary.
It comes as the cost of living continues to rise, while wages remain steady - leading to fewer people being able to make ends meet.
As a result of the strike, services such as Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern, Southeastern, Eurostar and HS1 will be affected by the walk-out.
According to trade union RMT, this is the largest strike ever carried out by rail cleaners in their history.
Mick Lynch, General Secretary of the RMT Union, offered his support to the cleaners taking industrial action.
"The support from Churchill cleaners for the action this morning is extraordinary and shows that these vital members of the rail team are prepared to stand up and fight for workplace justice. Support from their colleagues on ‎the picket lines has given the action a massive boost," he said.
"Pickets are out in force across London and the South East and it's now down to Churchill's and their host company's to take note and offer these key workers a fair deal. We remain available for talks."
A rally organised by the cleaners will also be taking place this morning outside of Parliament, with MPs and other supporters attending the demonstration at Old Palace Yard.
