A man has been charged with murder and manslaughter, as part of an investigation into the death of a woman in Tottenham last year.

On Monday, 13 January, the police were called to Reynardson Road in N17, concerned for the welfare of a woman inside a home.

They forced their way in, and found a woman who had died.

The woman was identified as 74-year-old Pepita Sarikecili, who was also known as Pepita Garcia.

The police believe that Pepita had died the previous month.

A postmortem revealed her cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Dominic Whitton, 41 also of Reynardson Road, was charged on 22 January with preventing a lawful burial in connection with the investigation and remanded into custody.

On Monday 6 October, Whitton attended Wood Green Crown Court where he was also charged with Pepita's murder and manslaughter.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges, and will next appear at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday, 12 December.
