M25 in Essex closed after man was hit while standing on hard shoulder

The motorway was shut between junction 29, the A127 and junction 30, the A130.

A man who died in a serious crash that shut the M25 this morning was a pedestrian standing on the hard shoulder.

The motorway in Essex was completely closed on Sunday morning between junction 29, the A127 and junction 30, the A130 after the fatal collision.

Emergency services were called at around 4am, where a lorry and a car collided.

A man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police closed the road while accident investigation work occurred.

There was congestion as a result from J29, A127 Southend Arterial Road to J30, the A13 near the Lakeside shopping centre.

Drivers heading into London have been met with severe delays.

Metropolitan Police, Essex Police, ambulance services, and National Highways Traffic Officers have been on scene.

No arrests have been made, and Met Police have urged anyone with dash cam footage or information in relation to this crash to call 101 quoting CAD 1299/08SEP.
