Around 125 firefighters at fire in London tower block
Twenty fire engines are at the scene in Whitechapel
Around 125 firefighters are dealing with a major fire on the upper floors of a high-rise block of flats in East London.
20 fire engines are at Whitechapel High Street dealing with a fire on the 17th floor of the building.
London Fire Brigade said they were called to Whitechapel High Street shortly before 4pm- saying they've taken more than 50 calls about it.
The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan says he's in close contact with the Fire Commissioner and tweeted to ask people to avoid the area.
Fire crews from Whitechapel, Shoreditch, Dowgate, Bethnal Green, Dockhead, Old Kent Road, Islington and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.
The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
