Man arrested in connection with theft of 3,500 bottles of wine from vineyard

A man has been arrested in connection with the theft of 3,500 bottles of wine from a Kent vineyard.

The suspect, who is 27 years old and from Romford in Essex, detained as he tried to board a plane at London Heathrow Airport.

Officers found the man had been trying to get on a plane bound for Latvia when he was arrested on Friday (November 15th).

The arrest relates to a burglary at a vineyard on Church Street in Shoreham, near Sevenoaks in Kent.

Investigators looking into the theft believe the incident took place overnight from August 25th and August 26th.

In total, over 3,500 bottles were stolen in the raid, with an estimated retail value of £106,000.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing, while the man remains in police custody.
