Six people have been taken to hospital following a crash involving three cars in Croydon.

Firefighters, police and paramedics were called to the scene on the junction of Wickham Road and the Shirley Roundabout just before 9pm last night.

Three people had to be cut from their vehicles before being taken to hospital for treatment.

Three others were assessed at the scene before also being taken to hospital.

London Fire Brigade says: "Two of the Brigade’s Fire Rescue Units, which carry specialist rescue equipment, were deployed to the scene as part of our response.

"Firefighters carried out rescue operations to release three people who were trapped in vehicles as a result of the collision, before they were taken to hospital for treatment.

"A further three people were assessed on scene by paramedics before being removed to hospital.

"The Brigade was first called about the incident at 2049, and operations for firefighters concluded at 2255. Firefighters from Beckenham, Bromley, Lewisham and surrounding fire stations attended the scene."
