60 firefighters tackle blaze which killed two cats and destroyed part of a flat

Around 60 firefighters were called to a fire at a block of flats on Amber Way in Hammersmith.

Part of a three roomed flat on the fifth floor in the seven storey block of flats was destroyed by fire.

London Fire Brigade have described it as a 'very visible fire' with 20 999 calls made about it.

A spokesperson from LFB said: "Sadly two cats died at the scene. Thankfully, no further injuries are reported."

The Brigade's 999 Control centre received their first call about the fire at 1748.

The fire was under control by 1843. Fire crews from Acton, Chiswick, Kensington, North Kensington, Paddington, Ealing and Chelsea fire stations were in attendance.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
