Police say a body which was recovered from the River Thames has been formally identified as Abdul Ezedi

The 35 year old was the prime suspect in a chemical attack in Clapham last month in which a woman and her two daughters were injured

A post mortem confirmed his cause of death was drowning

Commander Jon Savell said:

“We have worked to formally identify Ezedi as quickly as possible.

“As the public would expect, our enquiries continue into this atrocious attack. The 31-year-old woman is still in hospital and remains in a stable condition and no longer sedated. We have still not been able to speak to her but hope to as soon as she is well enough."

Ezedi's former girlfriend, a mother-of-two who was doused with a corrosive chemical, is now in a stable condition and no longer sedated, the force added.
