Teenage girls arrested after alleged assault on Knaresborough teacher

Four teenage girls have been arrested following an alleged assault on a teacher at a school in Knaresborough.

Police were called to King James's School in Knaresborough on Monday afternoon (20 March) following a "disturbance".

One teenager was taken into custody after being arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage, and has since been released on police bail.

Another 16-year-old girl was arrested on suspision of affray on Monday night.

Two other teenage girls were initially arrested to prevent a breach of the peace, although were de-arrested and taken home.

North Yorkshire Police tell us none of those arrested attend King James’s School.

Enquiries are ongoing to investigate the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
