Two men charged after large-scale cannabis farm found in Aintree
Over 300 cannabis plants discovered in a warehouse on Ormskirk Road
Two men have been charged following the discovery of a large-scale cannabis farm in Aintree last week.
On Wednesday 20th August, officers executed a warrant at a warehouse on Ormskirk Road, where 325 mature cannabis plants and a significant quantity of cannabis flower were seized. Two men were arrested close to the premises.
Gazmend Alijaj, 23, of Bedford Road, Luton, and Liman Mamaj, 24, of no fixed abode, have both been charged with production of cannabis and abstracting electricity without authority.
They have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday 19th September.
Police are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any signs of cannabis production in their communities.
A spokesperson said: “If you spot any signs that cannabis is being grown near where you live and work please let us know so that we can continue to take action. Any information helps residents and the work we do, so make us aware and we will investigate.”
Police advise that while individual signs may appear harmless, a combination could point to criminal activity.
These include:
Unusual smells and constant buzzing or humming noises
Frequent visitors at odd hours
Gardening equipment being taken indoors
Windows permanently covered or blacked out
Heat emanating from a neighbouring property
Birds gathering on the roof during cold weather
