Teenager arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after Liverpool city centre stabbing

Police investigating a stabbing in Liverpool city centre last week have arrested a teenage boy on suspicion of attempted murder.
Officers were called at 8.55pm on Thursday 22 August following reports a 21-year-old man had been found on Church Street with injuries to his body consistent with a bladed weapon being used.
It’s believed that the victim was involved in an altercation with around seven young males before the incident occurred.
Emergency services attended and the man was taken to hospital. He has since been released.
Following enquiries, a 16-year-old male has been arrested suspicion of attempted murder. He is currently in custody.
Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said: “We are continuing to appeal for anyone who was in Church Street on the evening of Thursday 22 August to come forward.
“We are also asking for anyone who recorded the incident on their mobile phone to share the footage with us so we can continue to make progress with our investigation.
“We remain relentless in our pursuit to remove any dangerous weapons from our streets and are actively working to make Merseyside a safer place to live and work for everyone.”
