Police hunting for gang after teenager stabbed in back in Bootle

A 17-year-old boy has been left with serious injuries after being stabbed during an attack in Bootle.

Police were called to Marsh Avenue just after 19:00 on Monday (19 May), where the teenager was found with injuries to his back.

He has been taken to hospital for treatment and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Detectives believe the boy was riding a bike through Stone Square when he was attacked, and managed to escape to Marsh Avenue.

He was helped by members of the public until paramedics arrived.

Detective Sergeant Dave Smith said: "It is not known how many people were involved in the attack and I would appeal to anyone who may have information to come forward.

"Crimes scene investigators are carrying out forensic examinations at the scene and house-to-house inquiries are underway.

"Officers will also be examining CCTV footage in a bid to establish the circumstances leading up to the investigation.

"I would urge anyone who saw anything to come forward, I would also appeal to drivers who may have dashcam footage to get in touch with us so we can identify those responsible and put them before the courts."
