Police are searching for two gunmen suspected of carrying out a targeted attack on another man in Liverpool on Tuesday night (22 April).

Armed officers stormed Windsor Road in Tuebrooke, where they found a man with serious injuries to his leg.

He was rushed to hospital, where he remains on Wednesday morning (23 April).

Officers are now carrying out a search for two men who were seen fleeing the scene on a bike, wearing face coverings and dark clothing.

Police remain at the scene to "provide reassurance to the community" and carry out initial CCTV and witness enquiries.

Detective Inspector Jay Halpin said: “We are in the very early stages of the investigation and we are determined to find the people responsible.

“To open fire at someone in such a reckless manner could clearly have had much more serious if not fatal consequences.

“We believe that the suspects fled the area on a bike and enquiries are ongoing to locate them and find the weapon used in this incident.

“We are also keen to speak to anyone who was in the general area who saw or heard anything suspicious or believes they captured something significant on their dashcam, CCTV or doorbell camera.

“We know that guns cause misery on our streets and we would ask for the public’s help in coming forward with any bit of information they have so we can find the people responsible.”
