Man charged after incident at Royal British Legion in Runcorn

It's understood a man allegedly tried to set fire to the property

A man has been charged after an incident at the Royal British Legion in Runcorn.

Gerrard Foott, 58, of Rupert Row, Runcorn, was arrested in the early hours of Monday 25th August following an incident at the venue on Castle Road at around 11.30pm the previous evening.

He has since been charged with assault, possession of an offensive weapon, and having an article with intent to destroy property.

Foott appeared at Chester Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 26th August, where he was remanded in custody.

He is due to appear before Chester Crown Court on Tuesday 23rd September.
