Police release CCTV footage of people they believe could have information

It follows a man being stabbed on Lord Street, Southport Last Night

Detectives have released CCTV images of people they believe may have information following a stabbing in Southport last night, Friday, 21 February.

Their statement reads:

We have issued CCTV images of two men who we believe could have information following a stabbing in Southport last night, Friday, 21 February.

Although the images are not of the best quality, we are hoping that the men’s appearance, clothing and the circumstances of this incident will prompt people with information to come forward

Police were called to reports of an argument in Lord Street at around 7.40 last night. It is believed that the 24-year-old victim sustained a stab wound to his side following an argument with three other males, one of whom as wearing a balaclava, outside the Glasshouse Pub

A man has since been arrested.

The 24 year old victim was taken to hospital - but he's not thought to be in a serious condition.

Crime Scene Investigators are carrying out forensic examination at the scene and CCTV enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher, said: "The investigation is in its early stages and enquiries are ongoing to identify those involved in the assault and to establish the circumstances leading up to the incident.

“The use of knives and other weapons on the streets can have catastrophic consequences for all of those involved, and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has information which could assist our inquiries to come forward.

“Lord Street is a busy road and I would appeal to any motorists who were driving along Lord Street at the time of the incident who have dashcam that may have recorded the incident to contact us."

A 24-year-old man from Bootle has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug following the incident.
