Pensioner dies following crash in Liverpool
The 87-year-old woman was in the front passenger seat of a car involved in a collision on Saturday afternoon
A pensioner has died in hospital following a crash between two cars on a busy road in Liverpool.
Emergency services were called to the junction of Menlove Avenue and Beaconsfield Road in Allerton at around 12:40BST on Saturday afternoon (September 21).
An 87-year-old woman was found with serious injuries in the front passenger seat of a blue Peugeot 206 involved in the collision.
In an update, Merseyside Police said she was taken to hospital by ambulance but has sadly since died from her injuries.
The two male drivers of the vehicles were not seriously injured and are assisting us with our enquiries.
No arrests have been made.
Police have now begun an appeal for witnesses.
Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson, Lead Investigating Officer from Merseyside Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: "This collision happened on a busy route in and out of the city.
Early enquiries show there were a number of vehicles in the area at that time, and I believe it may have been witnessed by members of the public or have been captured on dash cameras.
"I would appeal directly to anyone who saw anything and who has yet to speak with my team to please get in touch.”
