Murder investigation after man found in Walton dies

The man was found unconscious on Saturday but has since died

A murder investigation has been launched after a man, found unconcious in a Walton street at the weekend, has since died.

Yesterday, Sunday 3 November, the man in his 50s sadly passed away in hospital and the cause of death has yet to be known.

The two people arrested on suspicion of murder are a 34-year-old woman from Kensington and a 63-year-old man from Walton.

They have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The 53-year-old man from Knotty Ash who was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent has been released on police bail bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Ball said: “We are continuing to investigate the events leading up to the man being found unconscious on Spellow Lane and sadly died yesterday. Our sincere condolences remain with this family as they come to terms with their loss.

“Spellow Lane is a busy road, so I appeal to anyone who were in the area at around 9am and witnessed something or has information that might assist in the investigation to please contact us as a matter of urgency.

“If you were driving past at around the time, please review your dashcam footage for anything that will help us so we can provide his family with answers.

“I ask those who live in the area who we haven’t already contacted to please check your CCTV or doorbell footage to see if it has captured anything which could assist our inquiries.”
