Mersey Tunnel toll rises from today

Some of the tolls are going up from April 1 after the Combined Authority agreed to the extra charges in December

Tolls are going up from today if you want to go through thee Mersey Tunnels - by up to 40p for the largest vehicles.

Class 1 cars and motorbikes will see a 10p hike to £2.10 whilst Class 4 lorries see the biggest rise, up 40p to £8.40.

Those with a T-Flow account and from the Liverpool City Region will continue to get a discounted toll rate.

The T-Flow system was put into place back in 2022, as a replacement of the Fast Tag system.

The changes are coming into force from today (April 1) after the Combined Authority agreed to the changes back in December 2023 - blaming higher costs, whilst promising to re-invest the profit into transport across the region.

The new charges

  • Class 1 vehicles: going up from £2 to £2.10
  • Class 2 vehicles: going up from £4 to £4.20
  • Class 3 vehicles: going up from £6 to £6.30
  • Class 4 vehicles: going up from £8 to £8.40
