A 19 year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital after being shot in the back and leg in Huyton.

Police were called at 8.50pm on Friday 7th November to reports a man had been shot outside an address on Manley Road.

Emergency services attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital where he remains.

A cordon remains in place on Manley Road and officers are in the process of carrying out house-to-house, CCTV and witness enquiries.

Chief Inspector Andy Hughes said: “We are still in the very early stages of an investigation and we are determined to find the person or people responsible.

“A young man is currently in hospital with significant injuries and I’m sure the community will be utterly appalled at what has happened this evening.

“I want to reassure local residents in the area, as well as the wider Merseyside, that we are taking this incident extremely seriously and we are relentless in our pursuit of those involved in gun crime.

“This is a residential area and there will be people who may have witnessed the incident, and I urge those people to tell us what you know.

“Also, if you have CCTV or dashcam footage, please let us know if you captured anything. Even the smallest of details could prove vital in our investigation.

“Information from the public is vital if we are to breakdown the organised crime groups and I would appeal to anyone who has information to come forward as a matter of urgency.”
