A man has been jailed for 13 years after pleading guilty to raping a female patient at Whiston Hospital in Prescot.

Sidharth Nair, 29, of Jason Street, Liverpool, initially pleaded not guilty to four sexual offences, but changed his plea to guilty before a scheduled trial in July.

Nair admitted one count of rape, one count of assault by penetration and two counts of sexual assault.

The offences took place at the hospital in January 2024.

Nair will have to serve two thirds of his sentence before he's released and will also be forced to sign the sex offenders register for life.
