Man falls 30ft into silo at factory in Liverpool

A factory in an industrial part of Liverpool has been closed off after a man fell 30ft into a silo on Monday night (08 September).

Emergency services, including fire and ambulance crews, were called to the site on Woodend Avenue in Speke at around 19:20BST.

In a statement, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the silo was empty at the time, but the condition of the man remains unknown.

A number of road closures were put in place around the site.

Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that emergency services are currently in Speke following a serious industrial incident this evening, Monday 8 September.

"It was reported at around 7.20pm that a man had been involved in an incident at a factory on Woodend Avenue.

"Emergency services remain at the scene and the Health and Safety Executive has also been notified.

"Road closures are currently in place, and we ask motorists to please avoid the area and find an alternative route."
