Man arrested after shots fired at Old Swan house
Police said there could have been "catastrophic consequences", with children inside the house at the time
A man has been arrested after shots were fired at a house, causing damage to its front window.
The incident happened on Acanthus Road in Old Swan just before 4pm on Saturday, 15th of February.
The road was cordoned off and officers remain in the area,
Police said two men, who were dressed in all black clothing, fled the scene towards Doric Road.
Later, a 28-year-old man was arrested in connection to the incident. He has been taken into police custody to be questioned.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy McCourt said: “The investigation is in its very early stages and officers are currently in the area to carry out CCTV and house-to-house inquiries.
"Thankfully no one was injured, but this firearms discharge could have had catastrophic consequences.
“There were people inside the house at the time of the incident, including children, so clearly this could have been much worse.
“I’m sure the local community will be just as appalled as we are and I want to reassure them that we are determined to find the people responsible.
“Those involved in serious organised crime are clearly willing to carry and use firearms in Merseyside, but we will be relentless in removing them from our streets.
“Information from the public is vital if we are to breakdown the organised crime groups who bring misery to our streets and I would appeal to anyone who has information to come forward.
“I completely understand that speaking up could be daunting, but when people are willing to support the police we will ensure every possible avenue is progressed to protect them.”
