Police have arrested a man after an 81-year-old woman died following a fail to stop collision in Fazakerley on Friday 5th December.

Emergency services were called to Longmoor Lane at around 4.15pm after reports that a dark coloured car had collided with Margaret Perry near the junction of Third Avenue.

She suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital but sadly passed away. She has now been formally identified, and her family is being supported by specialist officers.

A 69-year-old man from Fazakerley has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop. He remains in police custody as enquiries continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Saidi said: “Our thoughts remain with Margaret's family as they continue to grieve this tragic loss.

“Although someone has now been arrested, we continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.

“We ask motorists who were in the area at around 4.15pm on Friday or immediately after the collision to please check your dashcam footage (front and rear) for any vital evidence which may help with our enquiries. Any help we receive, no matter how insignificant it may seem may help.

“Our priority is to ensure that we get answers for Margaret's family. Any information, however insignificant it may seem, would be greatly appreciated.”
