M6 in Cheshire shut after person hit by car
An Air Ambulance has landed at the scene near Knutsford
A pedestrian has been hit by a car on the M6 in Cheshire, forcing the motorway to close in both directions.
It happened shortly before 9am on Sunday 16th November between junction 19 for Knutsford and junction 20 for Lymm.
The northbound carriageway is shut between those junctions.
The southbound side is also affected, with an ‘up and over’ closure in place at junction 19, where vehicles are being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads.
Emergency services including Cheshire Police, the North West Ambulance Service and North West Air Ambulance were called to the scene.
The air ambulance landed in a field near the roundabout at junction 19.
National Highways Traffic Officers are helping with traffic management.
Cheshire Police are carrying out investigation work, and the motorway is expected to remain closed for several hours.

Drivers heading north should follow the solid square diversion symbol:
Leave the M6 northbound at junction 19
Take the third exit at the junction 19/A556 roundabout onto the A556 northbound
Follow the A556 for 7.3km
At the A556/A56 Bowdon roundabout, take the fourth exit and follow the link road for 0.2km
At the A556/M56 junction 8, join the M56 westbound
Follow the M56 westbound for 8.5km
Leave at junction 9 to rejoin the M6 northbound
National Highways is urging drivers to plan ahead, allow extra time, or delay travel if possible.
