Tens of thousands of people are marching through Liverpool today (Saturday 26 July) to celebrate Pride, seven weeks after we thought it would be cancelled.

"We couldn't go without Pride, and Liverpool couldn't go without Pride, because it means so much," explained Ant Hopkinson from Sahir House, the charity that stepped up to run the event after the LCR Pride Foundation said it couldn't because of financial pressures.

"Particularly with what's going on in the world right now, and the erosion of our rights as a community, and particularly what's happening with our trans community, we thought 'We need this day'"

Speeches will start from around half past ten at Pier Head before the parade gets underway an hour later, led by trans right group 'Protect Scouse Dolls'.

How the day pans out

9.30am: Muster at Pier Head, Liverpool Waterfront

10.30am: Speeches from activists and community voices

11.30am: March begins

At the head of the march is a block created specifically for LGBTQ+ people living with disabilities and neurodivergence, aiming to create a calmer, more accessible experience for everyone.

The route starts at Pier Head and ends at M&S Bank Arena.
