Investigation after man seriously assaulted by gang in Aintree
A 37-year-old was left in hospital with a bleed on the brain
Police are appealing for information following an assault in Aintree on Sunday 7 April which left a man in hospital with a serious head injury.
At around 9.45pm, a 37-year-old man was walking along Park Lane, near Aintree railway station, when he was approached by a group of 5-6 young males who assaulted him.
A passer-by contacted emergency services and the victim was taken to hospital with injuries including a fractured jaw and a bleed on the brain. He has since been discharged from hospital and is now recovering at home.
An investigation is underway and officers have conducted house to house enquiries and CCTV opportunities in the area.
Detective Inspector Sara Lang said: “This was a completely unprovoked and nasty assault that left a man in hospital with serious injuries.
“To attack someone in the street in such a violent manner is appalling and we are determined to find the group of young males involved.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident to please get in touch to help our investigation.
“Also,if you live on Park Lane or nearby, please check your CCTV or doorbell footage to see if you captured anything that could assist. If you were driving through the area at around the time of the incident, please review your dashcam footage and let us know if you captured anything.”
