A five-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital after a crash in Grassendale yesterday evening (Tuesday 1 April).
Shortly before 5.55pm, emergency services were called to the junction of Aigburth Road and Grassendale Road to reports of a collision involving a grey VW Polo.
The boy's injuries are described as 'serious but not life threatening'.
The car stopped at the scene, and officers are speaking to potential witnesses and checking CCTV to piece together what happened.
Chief Inspector Phil Thompson said: “This would have been a distressing incident for anyone who witnessed it, and we are grateful for members of the public who provided medical attention at the scene immediately after the collision.
“The boy is now receiving further treatment in hospital where his condition is not described as life threatening.
"Aigburth Road is a busy road and we would be keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident or who may have dashcam footage to get in touch.”
