Everton sack women's team manager Brian Sorensen
His assistants, Stephen Neligan and Ashley Tootle, have also left the club.
Everton have sacked women’s team manager Brian Sorensen, with under-18s coach Scott Phelan stepping in for the rest of the season.
The club confirmed the decision on Wednesday, just days after their 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at Goodison Park – their first home win of the Women’s Super League campaign.
Sorensen had been in charge since 2022 but leaves with Everton sitting ninth in the table after 14 matches.
His assistants, Stephen Neligan and Ashley Tootle, have also left the club.
In a statement, Everton chief executive Angus Kinnear said: “We would like to thank Brian, Stephen and Ashley for their hard work and efforts in their time at the club.
“Sunday’s first win of the season at Goodison Park was important, but it has become evident that a change of direction is necessary to ensure the progression on the pitch we are all striving for.”
Phelan, who has been working with Everton’s under-18s, will take over managerial duties until the end of the current campaign.
